Today, people watch more movies than ever before. But since the streaming giants flood the market, quantity often comes before quality, leading to more bad movie experiences. So we created The Bad Movie Index — a constantly changing membership price on Draken Film that gets lower, the more bad movies people watch on other platforms. The price is based on the streaming giants’ top lists of most watched films and their ratings on the biggest movie review sites.
Simply put: the lower the ratings get, the better price you get on Draken Film.
Our information is based on an API that collects data on the streaming giants’ most popular titles. We then calculate their average ratings on the biggest review sites for critics and audiences, which determines the price. Hopefully, it’s pretty cheap at the moment.
Of course, opinions will differ, as they often do when discussing film. At Draken Film we believe that quality film comes from all around the globe, broadens your taste and might not always fit inside the streaming giants’ massive libraries.
We believe in letting people decide the content, not algorithms. We believe in film from all corners of the world that contains everything from festival favorites and forgotten classics to popular indie productions. But we also believe that the films we offer must reflect our world. Therefore, we strive for geographical diversity for the film’s production countries and an equal gender balance among directors.
This comparison is based on the streaming giants' 10 most popular movies during week 18 2021. The diagram shows the number of titles where the director identifies as a woman.
This comparison is also based on the streaming giants’ 10 most popular films during week 18 2021. The diagram shows the diversity of the films’ production countries.
Stream a hand-picked selection of the film history’s greatest classics and the latest festival favorites directly on your phone, computer, tablet, Chromecast, Android TV or Apple TV.
Santa came early this year. After a volatile autumn, this year's Christmas movies have entered the streaming giants' top lists and caused a unprecedented flash crash. While the index is plummeting with steady momentum, is this the last chance to hedge the subscription price at a BMI level of SEK 47 / month, or are we facing a Santa Claus rally towards the bottom?
